Job Fair includes one that doesn't sound like work By
Elisabeth Bellessa The fair Tuesday in the Sunburst Lounge had a huge turnout as usual. Students were looking for an opportunity for a fun summer job, or working in some of the most beautiful country. One intriguing job is at a family-owned and operated business, the Bar-T-5 in Jackson Hole, Wyo. -- "The greatest place on earth," according to sign at the state line. At the Bar-T, Jim and Donna Thomas put on a Covered Wagon Cookout and Wild West Show for families. The Bar-T-5 is one mile east of Town Square. The Thomas family takes you two miles into Cache Creek Canyon by a covered wagon pulled by a team of draft horses. On your ride up to the cam site you encounter a Mountain Man who greets you, and Indians that might attack you. When you arrive at the camp, you are served barbecued chicken, roast beef, corn on the cob, green salad, Dutch oven baked beans, rolls, lemonade, hot chocolate and brownies. Then you can relax and enjoy the Spirit of the Bar-T-5 Band and the Wild West Show. The hardest thing that Jim Thomas said about owning and operating a family business is the "honor and commitment of the employees to work the dates they say that they will be there for." The season goes from mid-May to the end of September, and after six years of sole ownership of the Bar-T-5 Jim loves waking up each morning to work in the beautiful country. He said, "The best part of going to work is working with the people, horses, guests, and looking at the Tetons every day." The Bar-T is at (307) 733-5386.
