Millville delays action on 911 fee increase By
Meghan Dinger MILLVILLE -- After a presentation by Lt. Randy Auman of the Logan police at the City Council meeting Thursday, council members decided to continue discussion and table the issue of a proposed 911 fee increase. Auman spoke to the council about the plan to expand the police and emergency services in Cache Valley, requiring a higher fee to the residents of Millville. The fee would rise from a 53-cent per-month charge to $1 per person, per resident, per business, Auman said. This would give each resident a $12 yearly cost. Mayor Gale Hall expressed his feelings to the council by comparing the 911 service to a monthly utility. He said it is something that you pay for and even though it is not always used, you expect the light to come on when you flip the switch. "When I call, I want to know that I will have someone to be there to answer," Hall said. The council will continue its discussion at the next meeting, Feb. 7.
