From the High School Free Speech Front:

"If they feel an article isn't appropriate, they will pull it -- or ask the student to make changes to it. They said that isn't censorship. They said they're just approving or not approving what goes in. What's your definition of censorship?"

'Downtown' for North Logan is on the horizon

By Jen Pulham

February 11, 2005 | NORTH LOGAN -- "We're looking at creating a unique identity that would be special to our city and would be long-lasting," said Cary Watkins of the city planning commission.

The North Logan City Center is planned to be built somewhere between 1800 and 2200 North and 200 and 400 East. The North Logan Planning Commission is currently working with a company in Park City that specializes in conceptual design. Watkins said, "That's probably going to be resolved in a couple of weeks." When it is, Watkins hopes to create a downtown for North Logan. He calls it, "something traditional, like it's been there forever.

The City Center will be a mix-use area. It will be built on 8 acres of land that are currently used to grow alfalfa. The center will ideally have retail stores, hotels, and convention centers. Watkins anticipates that the stores built in the center will not be chains.

Apartment buildings are also part of the conceptual design. Watkins said, "You could live above a storefront. Ultimately you could live and work right there."

The center will also include a proposed park. In the middle of the park there will be a town square or plaza. Watkins hopes to hold events and festivals in the plaza. Part of the park includes an urban trail that will run along 1900 North alongside the power lines being installed by Utah Power and Light.

The planning commission does not yet have a date when building may begin. However, although plans for the City Center are still in the conceptual stage, Watkins said, "North Logan will ultimately do that if I have anything to say about it."
