Broken bank door probably vandalism, not burglary

By Sarah Ali

December 13, 2005 | Reports of broken glass on the side door of Zion's Bank last Thursday morning turned out to be a not as serious as expected. According to the police report, a Herald Journal deliveryman reported broken glass and an open door while on his route early in the morning.

When the manager arrived along with the Logan Police Department they found that the glass was not completely broken and the door was not open, said Captain Dave Tarbet. Once inside they were unable to find any footprints or sign of missing items.

Tarbet said the broken door was most likely not an attempted burglary since there was no indication someone had gained entry into the building.

"Someone was probably mad at the bank and that's how they got their revenge," Tarbet said. Right now the incident is being recorded as an act of vandalism.

"They probably threw something at it or shot it with a pellet gun," Tarbet said.
