Police arrest Providence man suspected of stealing meat

By Manette Newbold

December 1, 2005 | LOGAN -- A man was arrested and taken to jail Tuesday morning on suspicion of breaking into a Logan home and stealing frozen meat, according to police reports.

A neighbor called police around 5:30 a.m. after he saw a man get out of a red truck and enter one driveway after another and attempt to get inside any unlocked doors, said Lt. Richard Salvesen of the Logan City Police Department.

Salvesen said when officers arrived at the area of 1450 E. 1140 North, the man dropped the box of meat and ran, despite calls for him to stop. Police found the suspect a few hours later, Salvesen said, and took him into custody.

Kit Cody Hincks, 20, of Providence, was booked into jail on one count of burglary of a dwelling, one count of theft, three counts of attempted burglary of a dwelling, one count of failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer, and one count of criminal mischief for going through and breaking a fence.

After the arrest police discovered Hincks also had two failure-to-appear warrants -- one a class-A misdemeanor, the other a second-degree felony.
