Nixon
drops subdivision request in Providence
By Shauna Leavitt
April 15, 2005 | PROVIDENCE -- Jack
Nixon formally withdrew his plat approval application
for the Eagleview Estates Phase Two Subdivision this
week.
Nixon's plans were denied during the previous city
council meeting because of non-compliance to public
safety, water and city code requirements. The city council
had advised Nixon that if he made the necessary changes
the application could be approved.
The council members read a proclamation stating Providence
would acknowledge April 2005 as Child Abuse Prevention
Month. "Children make up 25 percent of crime victims.
Last year, 250 children suffered from abuse in Cache
Valley," said Jim Payant from the Child and Family Support
Center. "With the help of Providence City, the citizens
can help parents raise children safely."
Carma Lee Jensen requested an adoption of the final
plat for Jensen Orchard Subdivision located approximately
at 530 E. Canyon Road. Jensen had divided one lot and
sold it to as two. The council required that the property
owners who would be affected by this request sign the
plat indicating their acceptance before the council
will approve the final plat.
In other business, the council adopted a resolution
adjusting the city budget. It also passed a resolution
declaring a 20-ft. by 25-ft. parcel of property as surplus
and authorizing a quit claim deed to the adjacent property
owner was approved.
