From the Keep-Your-Eye-on-the-Ball Department:

"In a year when war in Iraq, the threat of terrorism and looming problems with the federal budget and the nation's health care system cry out for serious debate, the news organizations on which people should be able to depend have been diverted into chasing sham events."

Man arrested on suspicion of DUI with child in car

By Joey Hislop

April 15, 2005 | LOGAN -- A Logan man was arrested early this morning near his home on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a denied driver's license and driving with a child not wearing a seatbelt.

A cashier at the L.W.'s on 1000 West and 200 North reported to police that the man was repeatedly purchasing alcohol between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday, and that the man had a child in the car with him.

A Logan police officer stopped the suspect on Threepoint Ave. for a seatbelt violation and smelled alcohol in his car. The officer then administered a field sobriety test, which showed the man had been drinking. The man was then arrested and taken to jail. The child was probably returned home, police said.
