April 6. 2005 | LOGAN--Jamie Daun
Fisher of River Heights pleaded guilty Tuesday in 1st
District Court to illegal possession of a controlled
substance, a class-A misdemeanor.
During Fisher's court appearance today for a change
of plea the prosecution agreed to drop the original
2nd degree felony charge of possession of a controlled
substance in exchange for a guilty plea to a lesser
charge.
In late 2004, Fisher was arrested after police found
oxycontin pills in a bottle with Fisher's name on it
during a search of her residence. Oxycontin is a powerful
and addictive pain killer and is illegal without prescription.
Fisher did not have a prescription for the pills.
Fisher originally requested a jury trial but the request
was denied. Judge Thomas Willmore set sentencing in
this case for six weeks from today.
